What have we checked?
- The composition of omega-3 (EPA, DHA, DPA, ALA)
- What other fats are added and in what quantity
- Added vitamins and other micronutrients
- Price - What do you really get for your money?
Many would argue that SanOmega Premium is an expensive product, and indeed it is. You will find many cheaper omega-3 supplements on the market. However, if you manage to find a supplement that contains all the goodies SanOmega contains at a lower price than what we offer, we'd love to hear about it. The cheapest products naturally contain cheaper raw materials.
The composition of omega-3
Cheap omega-3 supplements often contain little EPA compared to DHA, and there are often few added vitamins. It's also a good idea to look at how much other fatty acids are added. In SanOmega, we add a little MCT (22-23% depending on the product) to stabilize the fish oil. It is common to use olive oil and it is also quite common for about 37% of the product to be olive oil (or other vegetable oil). This results in less omega-3.

Is olive oil a good idea?
We used to use olive oil in SanOmega, but have decided to move away from it because the substances in the olive oil destroy the fatty acids in the fish oil. Cold-pressed olive oil contains several minerals, including iron and copper, as well as traces of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll produces its own oxygen. Together, this means that oxidation is rapid and the polyphenols in the olive oil are broken down. We recommend everyone to consume olive oil, but we believe it should not be mixed with fish oil. Use olive oil on your salad instead and you'll get all the wonderful substances found in olive oil without destroying anything.
MCT is a better idea!
MCT has been shown to perform much better in terms of both shelf life and taste. The reason for this is that MCT consists of saturated fatty acids that are chemically stable.
This results in little oxidation of the fish oil. It removes the "fishy" taste of the fish oil, which makes the fish oil easy to flavor with little flavoring.
In addition, several studies show that MCT is good for the intestinal flora. It has a so-called prebiotic effect. This means that our good gut bacteria appreciate a little MCT in the diet.
Vitamins and micronutrients
To our knowledge, there is no more complete omega-3 supplement on the market. We always choose the best natural fish oil we can find (the one with the most EPA), and have added vitamins A, D, E, K2*, Q10*, beta-carotene* and astaxanthin*. Many of the supplements on the market have added some of these substances, but usually in smaller quantities than what you find in SanOmega Premium.
